DNA Storage
The process to store your DNA is simple and painless. We will send you a DNA storage kit. That includes:
1) A sterile foam swab
2) An FTA Elute card

You take a sample of your DNA by gently rubbing the swabs on the inside of your cheek lining. Then apply the swab to the FTA Elute storage card. You can either store your FTA Elute card at home or mail it back to DNAPrint® for us to store it for you. If we store your cards, they will be split up and stored separately at 2 different locations and will be kept in a safe, dry, quality controlled environment. Only individuals you authorize may access the DNA swab samples. The DNA samples are yours; we are just renting you professional storage space. At any time you would like to retrieve one or all of the samples, you complete the Sample Back Request form and the sample swabs containing your DNA will be mailed back to you. |
By storing the samples at DNAPrint®, you have the peace of mind that you can easily and quickly retrieve your samples. You also can feel confident that DNAPrint® monitors storage conditions to help ensure environmental quality.

We use the FTA Elute card to store the DNA. This card is improved over the FTA card in that it allows multiple methods of analysis per punch when eluted into solution by a laboratory technician. The FTA Elute card can also be used with all real-time PCR machines. These FTA Elute cards are designed for room temperature collection, shipment and archiving. The FTA Elute cards are impregnated with a patented chemical formula that lyses cells and denatures proteins upon contact. |
